Leicester Sky Ride

For those coming along to Leicester on Sunday for the Sky Ride, here are pictures of the site of the Sustrans Stall past which the vast crowd of cyclists will pass. It is alongside the statue of  - er - some bloke in tights, and opposite the Corn Exchange which is a Wetherspoons pub, so you should be able to find it. Here there are are toilets and a bike park. There is also an "entertainment area" alongside.
Exactly what the entertainment is, we know not, but no doubt it will be entertaining.
Riders will start from a variety of sites around the 5.5 mile route of closed roads, and if you register you will be allocated to one of those. Also you will be given a Hi-vis tabbard and your name entered in the draw for valuable prizes.
Still time to register at www.goskyride.com
Don't miss this event. It is an opportunity to ride along with 11,999 other cyclists on closed roads in the centre of a large city.
If you have a folding bike, you can take it to Leicester on the SkyLink bus from Derby Bus Station hourly. Free to bus pass holders. The bus goes via EMA, and it is but a short ride from St.Margaret's Bus Station to Leicester Market Place.
Please call in at our stall when passing.
See you there.

PS The bloke in tights is the Duke of Rutland,  re-builder of Belvoir Castle, and general local benefactor and good guy. On completion of his statue (the first in Leicester), it was said that he looked "intoxicated".  Not so unusual, I suppose, just ouside Wetherspoons.
