Breadsall Greenway News

An article in the Derby Telegraph today states that work on phase 2 of the Great Northern Greenway (A608 Bridge to Broomfield College) is due to start "in a few months time".
Cash contributed by developers of the three new houses built recently on Station Road, Breadsall, amounting to £32,500, will be used to help finance the total cost of £565,000 for the whole route of 12km.
A decision on this will be taken at the Derbyshire County Council meeting today.
Presumably it will get the go ahead.
More news from our meeting with DCC (at a somewhat lower level) on 7th January.

Given the already considerable amount of work involved in the first section up to the A608, I think a total cost of £565k for 12km is a bargain. Unless, of course, the reporter has misunderstood. (As if!)

Yes, it does seem to be very good value for money.
A mile of motorway costs well over £30m so you could get 85 miles of cycle path for that sort of money.
Which would you rather have?
