News Oddments

* The new seat at Mickleover, which was loose in the ground, has now been consolidated. It is already well used by the public, and maybe that's why it had worked loose.
*We have been asked to construct and install a similar seat on Mick/Mack Park for the Friends of Mickleover Meadows. They will finance it and we will make a profit for our funds.
* We are proposing to install a squirrel proof bird feeder close by the Veteran Tree at Mickleover and have this week been carrying out an experiment with a temporary bird food dish to see (a) if it attracts birds, and (b) if the public will provide bird seed. The answer is "Yes" on both counts.
*Mavis Ratcliffe has been given a graffiti removal kit by the Etwall Police and reports good results with it.
*There is a proposal by Duffield Parish Council to press for an off-road cycle path from the village into Derby. This would use the existing pavement which runs along the East side of the A6 trunk road.
* We have been offered another £50 grant by Action Earth, from whom we have had several similar grants in the past. We will be applying to fund a seat at Breadsall.
*Several rides, both Public Rides and Rangers Rides are being planned.
*Our annual Biking Barbecue is on Sunday 14th June.
*A new event - a public ride from Mickleover to Smerrills Farm at Radbourne for farm tours and a BBQ, provisionally on 27th or 28th June.
*Two events as yet without fixed dates, since both are subject to completion of construction work are:-
Opening of Breadsall Greenway.
Opening of new Leisure Centre at Etwall.
*We are proposing to run Sustrans Stands at the following events :-
BikeRadarLIVE at Donington Park on 30th/31st May.
Derby's Big Bike Weekend at Markeaton Park on 11th/12th July
Midland Railway Centre Event at Butterley on 30th/31st August.
