Mercia Marina
The main construction work on the new Marina at Willington is now almost complete, a surprising number of boats being moored there. Work continues on the construction of a path linking the marina to the Trent & Mersey Canal where the towpath is quite cycleable but we hope one day will be upgraded.
Of more interest to us as cyclists (and gourmets) is that the Willow Tree Cafe makes a good place to take a break, with good food, good views across the marina and, important on a cold day, the welcome sight and warmth of a blazing log fire.
Also, of interest to those who suffer from a weak bladder, the new toilets are now operational.
The official Open Day, postponed last September due to bad weather and muddy ground conditions, is now planned for 23rd and 24th May. We shall no doubt be organising a ride to the event.

A number of us will have got back from Wales on 22/5, having ridden some 250 hard miles. We hope this ride is a little shorter!
Probably about 6k
