The ride to National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas on the 26th should be tackled by all who can – Do take your lights though!
If you have not visited before there is plenty to see and a good tea shop to refresh you. I doubt you will have the time to visit the Japanese prisoner of war hut, but a quick look will impress. All free except the tea. (A dreadful bike stand though).

This is an atmospheric location. Much to see. Make a point of locating the copse dedicated to all the men that were shot for cowardice, when, as we now know, they were suffering from shellshock. All the trees bear the name of each individual. Very moving. Of particular importance to be in the Chapel at 11.00am. Each day at this time, a short recorded memorial service is held, with the last post being played.
