Mercia Marina

The new Mercia Marina situated between Willington and Findern, is now up and running with it's Willow Tree Tea Rooms becoming another favourite stop for cyclists.
Top picture shows the view from the cafe with the Toyota Factory on the horizon and both A38 and A50 trunk roads just visible.
Lots of construction work yet to be done on the marina and there is to be a pub on the site, although Willington already has three.(OK if you like that sort of thing I suppose).
Lower picture shows the new pedestrian bridge crossing the cut which joins the marina to the Trent and Mersey Canal. Hopefully the towpath thereon will one day be a part of the NCN.

Being a tearoom fanatic, this post set me off on my bike again. Indeed I did a tour of all the locals..but not by choice. Having visited Happy Hens I set off to Eggington to Don Amott...Closed...late winter opening hours..so onto the new Marina..Closed on Mondays..so back to Willington Deli in time for a late breakfast. I was tempted by the breakfast special offer on multi buys but willpower won this time.
