Caught by the Bollards
As a cyclist regularly cut up by "White Van Man", I can only smile at this report from the Burton Mail.
BURTON’S infamous bollards have struck again and have claimed their second vehicle in as many days.
An unsuspecting Peugeot van driver was snared by High Street’s notorious traffic management scheme at 1pm yesterday.
The bollards near the college end of High Street, outside Primark, ripped through the underside of the white Peugeot van.
Although the driver emerged unscathed, pieces of engine, debris and oil were scattered across the road, with the entrance to High Street also blocked before the vehicle was eventually moved.
The driver, who asked only to be named as Michael, said: “It’s a death-trap. You do not expect those bollards to come shooting up so quickly.
“I was following a bus round the corner and then they hit me.
Burton resident Paul Roberts witnessed the latest incident unfold.
He said: “The van was tailgating a bus.
“The bollard then lifted up the van and something went ‘pop’.
“I don’t think the driver knew what happened.
He looked a bit bewildered.
Tough!

These bollards would be a good deterrent for off roaders. Trouble is, no buses to activate them!
