The good news is that the Tour of Britain passes through
Derbyshire on Friday September 11th, but
the bad news is that it doesn't pass through Derby.
But the good news is that stage 6 (Stoke to Nottingham) passes through Matlock and what better place to see it.
If you don't fancy cycling there you can go by train for a mere £3.95 if you have a railcard, that being with an off-peak return ticket.
There will be lots of cycling related activities in Hall Leys Park, including a stall by the White Peak Ranger Group who would value your support.

Anyone going by train and bike to this event on the Friday?
Yes, 9.52 train.
Note no cycle reservations on Matlock trains from Derby.
You fond a good spot Les.
Yes it was. To ensure an unobstructed view, I stood behind two ladies in wheelchairs, knowing that they would not get up and obscure the view.
