High Peak Trail closure 29th January 2014

Closure of Sheep Pasture incline on High Peak Trail

29 January 2014
Part of Sheep Pasture Incline on the High Peak Trail has been closed because part of a retaining wall has collapsed.

There is an alternative footpath through the woods for walkers, but those on bikes or horses will need to use Intake Lane, the A6 and the canal towpath to get to High Peak Junction.
It is thought that the wall has collapsed due to the recent heavy rain. The trail is likely to be closed for several months while engineers survey the damage and the council goes out to contract for the necessary repairs.
The wall is around 6.5m high and around a 6m stretch has collapsed into the field below.
