Folding Society Ride

This month's Origami Ride by the Folding Society on Saturday 12th October takes Small Wheel Riders from Duffield to Wirksworth for lunch at the Railway Station Buffet, generally following the line of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.
Riders meet at Godfrey's Café Bistro in Town Street Duffield at 10.30am (for 11am start) and the outward route is described as " 10 flat miles".
After lunch the return of 9 miles to Duffield includes "some steep hills" so presumably over Alport Height.  However once having achieved this climb the run downhill via Shottlegate is exhilarating.

If you are not that keen on hills, or you like trains, you can of course return by rail since EVRA have guards vans (what are they Dad?).   Memories of the good old days when all trains carried bikes, cabin trunks and crates of live chickens with ease.  And stations had porters who carried your luggage along the platform and put it on the train for you.  How things have changed!
