Bird Webcams

Readers who have been watching the Peregrine Falcons nesting on Derby Cathedral's tower via the webcam, will have noticed the remarkable growth of the four chicks, who seem likely to fledge within the next week or so. Already they are almost as big as their parents, having lost signs of their original white plumage.  There is much wing flapping to exercise the muscles ready for the day when they launch themselves from the 260 ft. tower for their first flight over the City streets.

Meanwhile over at Rutland Water, the three Osprey chicks are not quite so far advanced, but looking very healthy, being fed on a diet of fish brought in by the parents.
