More on R54 at Mickleover

As promised yesterday, the Derbyshire Countryside Rangers came along first thing this morning to remove the crack willow tree which has been threatening to reduce it's angle of repose from 45 degrees to zero for some years and yesterday's high winds might well have hastened it's demise. The Greenway is now a safer place at last.

Prior to work being started on repairs to the path, we have requested help from the Community Payback Team to cut back the vegetation in the area so that dumpers and a mechanised roller can pass each other on the path.  The vegetation clearance work will start on Saturday next 20th October with the team arriving at Mickleover Station at about 9.45am. Rangers welcome to help in an advisory capacity (no physical work necessary).
