Unbelievable! Just comfirms my theory that the world is full of stupid people. Those who instructed the painting. Those who painted it. And finally those who might try to ride on this ridiculous cycle lane (if there are such people). Thank goodness that it is not on our patch of the NCN. Incidentally, the standard Sustrans Risk Assessment form includes the advice "Take care near water".
No thanks, halving the number of wheels does not reduce your chances of coming to grief. Some would say that they are doubled.
A few years ago, I fell backwards off a unicycle and was taken to A&E at the DRI with concussion. A doctor took down the details, saying "How old are you?" I told him. "And how did you bang your head?" he asked. "I fell off a unicycle" said I. He made no reply, but the look on his face said it all, as he stroked his chin, and looked skywards.
