Alan Inger

Sadly we have to report the recent death of Alan Inger, a keen cycle rider on the Mickleover Greenway since it's inception.
He was a very regular cyclist, not known personally to many of our Rangers, but a generous benefactor to our funds.
Alans beloved wife died last year and he asked that we build and install a seat in her memory. We did this in a sunny position on Route 54 between Heage Lane and Hepnalls Bridge. It was angled to face South with a nice view of Etwall in the distance.
He also paid for a mountain ash tree to be planted alongside the seat and he visited the site most days until he was taken ill.
The Derby Ranger Group were represented by Alan Locke at the funeral.
We propose (with his son's permission) to put a new plaque on the seat to commemorate both Alan and his wife Bennie.

A lovely idea.
I can still picture Alan sitting on his seat even now.

I cycled home from Etwall (Phil's house) last week in the dark, and wondered, as I approached the seat, if there would be anyone sitting on it.
In the event there was not, and nor did I see any glow worms, which is why I was cycling along there in the dark.
Perhaps it is too early for them, and it was quite a chilly night as well.
