Final Arrangements
The weather forecast is not good for Sunday's event, but we still hope to see greater numbers of people out than we had at Breadsall last weekend. The event has been well publicised.
All arrangements have been agreed with the manager of the Etwall Leisure Centre in accordance with a Risk Assessment that has been produced.
The BBQ will be sited in the field adjacent to the main building on a strip of concrete at the bottom of the steps.
We will have two vehicle trailers on site, the small one with the BBQ on it and the large one with publicity material in it. Also we will erect our gazebo which may afford some shelter if rain is a problem. The large trailer will be sited as a wind break should that be necessary.
There will be only two cars on site and there is good provision for cycle parking on the field side of the ranch style fencing alongside the building. No bikes to be parked against the building. Access to toilets is via the back door at the top of the steps.
The ride leaves Mickleover Station at 11am and we should arrive at Etwall Leisure Centre about 11.45am. The only serious hazard on the ride is the crossing of the Hilton Road from Old Station Close to the Leisure Centre, where we must pause if necessary to avoid conflict with traffic, although the road has a 40mph speed limit. We will put up large yellow signs which warn drivers of cyclists crossing.
Free swimming will be available, but swimmers should go straight into the water on arrival as public lane swimming starts at 12.45pm. I will distribute the free swim tickets which will have the option of attendance at some other time up to the end of June.
Rangers who are marshalling the ride please be at Mickleover Station by 10.45am (at latest) to help control the vast (?) crowds. Please wear Sustrans jackets and carry mobile phones. Ride leaders and sweeper at the rear of the column, will carry walkie talkies.

Looking forward to it. It is a long time since I rode in torrential rain! Later on it may even be worse than the famed Conkers to Derby Sustrans ride.
Happy days.
Yes - Just as you predicted. Will contact you when we next go on holiday.
