Nevertheless it looked an interesting prospect, so we organised a trailblazing ride to take a look at it.
We met for lunch at Morrison's cafe and then rode along the old railway route from the Paddock PH towards the A608 bridge.
The going was grim (to say the least) after heavy rain and it got even worse, but we carried on along the bed of a stream in the deep cutting. We eventually had to dismount, and were faced with the steep gradient as an escape route up to Brookside Road.
The gradient was so steep that we had to pull our bikes up on a rope which Mavis happened to have in her saddlebag.
What a ride that was!

I remember this occasion very vividly. It took days to get the mud off me and the bike.
