This was the state of part of the Breadsall Greenway prior to construction of the path surface. It was so bad that one of the tractors got stuck here and had to be rescued by a second tractor.
An enormous amount of earthmoving was done to make the level higher at this point and to bring the gradients within the design specification of 1 in 20 maximum.
Note the removal of quite a lot of trees along the route. Some local residents objected to this, but looking back, they now have an all weather path for walking and cycling which they did not have previously.
