Here is a picture of the Erewash Canal towpath at Long Eaton, looking north, with Long Eaton Lock in the background. The footbridge carries Route 6 (Derby to Nottingham) over the canal. As you can see, the towpath has been resurfaced to a very high quality and extends - at the moment - from Trent Lock to Pastures Lock, Sandiacre. This is part of the new Erewash Valley Trail which is due to open officially next year. I would encourage you all to ride it whenever you get the opportunity. It really is good! The past and future activities of the Ranger Group who look after the National Cycle Network Routes in Derby and South Derbyshire.
