After a rather quiet period we are coming up to a very busy time for us locally with a variety of activities as follows:-
Tuesday 1st June
Installation of a new seat on the Breadsall Greenway. This is financed by a £50 grant from Action Earth. The seat will be positioned at the NE end of the Greenway, some distance down the slope from the A608 gate. Volunteers meet on site at 9.30am. All tools provided. Lunch afterwards at Morrisons Supermarket.
Wednesday 2nd June
Rangers Meeting at The Brunswick PH preceded by a Rangers Ride to view recently installed cycling facilities (eg Connecting Derby/Lara Croft Way) in Derby City Centre.
Ride starts 6.30pm from Exeter Bridge. Meeting 7.30pm. Don't forget your lights.
Saturday 5th June
We travel to Newark or Lincoln to join the Newark Rangers at the opening ceremony for the bridge across the River Trent which will be a vital link in cycle route NCN 647 between Lincoln and Clumber Park. Peter Ford will advise on best train/ride options.
Sunday 6th June
Public Ride from Derby Market Place (11am) to Breadsall for BBQ. Ian Dent leads the ride with a prior start (10.30am) from the BioBlitz at Markeaton Park. Lots of marshals required. Please contact Ian direct if you are able to volunteer for this.
Also Mavis needs help with the BBQ. Cooks, cashiers, general dogs-bodies and washers-up needed.
Sunday 13th June
Now in it's 6th year, the ever popular Etwall Biking Barbecue goes from Mickleover Station at 11am, with a joining ride from Derby Market Place (10.15am). This year we are at the new Etwall Leisure Centre (with free swimming) and we hope to see the previous best attendance of 121 exceeded. Lots of volunteers required to control the vast crowds (hopefully) and to sell them lots of burgers. These BBQs are our main fundraiser and both the timing and the exercise are designed to make a lot of people very hungry.
Saturday 19th June
Several Derby Rangers will be attending the Sustrans Ranger Day at York. See Sustrans web site for details of this and other Ranger Days throughout the Summer.
Let me know if you need help with booking or travel arrangements.
Also on that weekend the CTC Rally on York Racecourse.
For the Rally there is plenty of camping/caravanning space on York Racecourse, so a good opportunity to combine the two events by stopping overnight Friday and Saturday.
You can stop over Sunday night as well for no extra charge, returning home on Monday.
