This is a sample of the sign which we have been given by Derby City Council to help in countering the epidemic of dog fouling on our local Greenways. It clarifies the legal situation, whereas our usual Sustrans dog fouling sign just asks people to clean up after their dog.
The two worst places for dog fouling are near to Mickleover Station on R54/68, and adjacent to the Paddock PH on R672.
Exactly how we tackle this problem will be decided at our next Rangers Meeting, but it seems likely that we will put up some of these DCC signs and therefore will need some pieces of rigid plastic, as these signs are flexible self adhesive material and only suitable for sticking onto smooth hard surfaces. If we first stick them onto hard plastic we can then nail them to wooden fence posts.
Please see if you can beg, borrow or steal some such material.
The sign is 145mm x 195mm.
If all else fails, we do have one further option as shown in the upper photograph.

See comment on Work days re backing material for dog signs.
I have put up some extra signs in the Mickleover Station area this morning and talked to a few dog walkers, who all had bags and were concerned that a minority of irresponsible dog owners were not cleaning up.
They also said that dog fouling is an increasing problem on the grass verges in the Ladybank Road area.
One of the Mickleover Councillors is coming to see the problem tomorrow (Monday).
