New Cycle Path at Hilton

The new path from the A5132 at Birch Trees Farm through to the Mease is now well advanced. This will be an improvement to the R54 Uttoxeter leg.
The top surface is on and contractors have today been planting hedges to screen, on the one side, Don Amott's caravans, and on the other, the Hilton Industrial Estate. Most of this hedge is hawthorn (groan!) but there is a grass verge both sides.
A row of wooden posts now runs across the entrance to the path, preventing motor traffic from entering.
We have no idea of the completion date, but Rangers passing by might check if the barricade has been removed.
Once that goes we're on the path.
Perhaps another excuse for some sort of a celebration?

Late News Flash
The Egginton Junction Bridge to Dove Bridge, Uttoxter route (currently NCN R54) is to be re-numbered as Route 549.
This will be done when the new Hilton path is opened.
