Ride on Routes 61 and 12

Last Friday I rode from Hatfield along route 61 to Hertford, Ware (along the Cole Green Way) and then to Waltham Abbey and Enfield (through the Lee Valley Park). I can thoroughly recommend both routes as there is some interesting scenery (a lot alongside water) and hardly any hills.

I returned to Hatfield along Route 12 (after some rubbish cycling along the road through Enfield). Route 12 follows the A1(M) very closely so there is loud traffic noise throughout. One benefit I found was that the NCN now includes Service Stations (see photo with signing to South Mimms Services from Route 12).

Following on from Martin's recent photo on stupid cycle paths I came across the "lamppost in the path" situation just north of Cockfosters. I particularly like how the northbound arrow points cycle traffic directly into the post!
