A circuit of Carsington Water

See the attached article about a possible plan to complete the "off-road" circuit at Carsington and thus avoid the two road crossings near Hopton.

While this will undoubtedly make the circuit more attractive to less enthusiastic cyclists it wont make it any easier! The exisiting path south of the reservoir contains some sharp climbs and descents.

Yup, it depends, some of us may prefer an articulated truck to a sharp climb.

I have often thought the Carsington Circuit was a good ride spoilt by the effort and danger involved in getting there. Perhaps that's why most people go by car. The train to Cromford and climb up the Peak Trail eliminates most of the danger and some of the miles, and off peak the train staff are usually tolerant of more than the regulation 2 bikes. Worth a try someday?
