Derby Rangers go to Prison .........................

............and some would say "Not before time!"
However, this was actually the focal point of Phil Harris's Mystery Ride on 16th October.
Eleven Rangers and friends met at Hilton to follow Phil in the Autumn sunshine along the leafy lanes in the direction of Uttoxeter. After passing National Trust property Sudbury Hall, we turned off NCN Route 54 in the direction of Ashbourne, and lo and behold the secret was revealed.
We turned into the gates of the Open Prison at Sudbury, locked up our bikes (securely!) and entered the staff canteen where a table for eleven was awaiting.
Most of us did not know that this place was open to the public, although it is reputed to be easier to get out of, than to get into.
And what a great place it is. There was an excellent menu available and at very reasonable prices too.
We all enjoyed an excellent meal and agreed that we would certainly be making a return visit in the not-too-distant future.
But only as visitors, of course.

My thanks to Phil for a trip that was mysterious right to the last turn and was so well worth the wait.
I really must adjust my helmet!!
