Signing Ride

By an amazing combination of sheer genius and good luck (mostly the latter) we chose a day of perfect cycling weather for our ride to Uttoxeter, to check the signing of the stretch of Route 54 between Mickleover and the Derbyshire/Staffordshire County Boundary at the Dove Bridge on the A50 trunk road.
Only a few of the existing signs needed attention mainly due to being hidden by vegetation or other non-cycling signs, so our first real stop was for lunch at the Boar's Head at Sudbury where we sat outside in the sunshine for our drink and meals.
The carvery was good value at £4.99 and that included bread rolls and delicious soup.
Then on past Sudbury Hall, through the village of Doveridge and to the River Dove crossing, that being the western edge of our official territory.
There was time to ride the extra mile into Uttoxeter for a visit to one of our most popular tea shops - Birds. Unfortunately they had sold out of Martin's favourite gingerbread men and so he had to make do with a rather naughty cream cake.
A gentle ride home in the afternoon sunshine and about 40 miles covered.
Photograph shows the Signing Team obviously delighted with the day's work.
