I tried to get a picture of this heron while I was out cycling on the Nottingham Canal towpath. It was on its nest on the other side of the canal. I stopped my bike, quietly got the camera out of my paniers, switched it on, took aim ... and the bloody thing flew off, it took so long! You know what digital cameras are like!
Fortunately, in its flying off, it actually made a lovely picture, after all! This is now my current wallpaper on my computer's desktop.
