East Midlands Rangers Visit

Any resemblance between these characters and Sustrans Rangers (living or dead) is purely co-incidental.

Final arrangements for the ride and meeting of East Midlands Rangers in Derby on Saturday 22nd October.
Most of our visitors will be bringing their bikes by train to Derby, and we meet them at Derby Railway Station at 11am. They are coming from Newark, Sheffield, Grantham, Matlock, Leicester, Chesterfield, and even as far away as Burton-upon-Trent,
From the station we cycle to Don Amott's Cafe at Hilton, where we currently have a table reserved for 15 people from 12.30pm.
The route is as follows. See RidewithGPS map http://ridewithgps.com/routes/777155

From Station to Riverside Path, crossing the Telegraph Bridge, Meadow Lane, Derwent Street, Stuart Street to cross the Swing Bridge, Sowter Road and St.Michael's Lane. Then Queen Street into Chapel Street, at 11.20am to pick up any visitors who have come by car.
Back then onto Cathedral Road, right into Willow Row and cross St. Alkmund's Way/Ford Street onto Brook Street. Take the cycle path on to Markeaton Recreation Ground. Left then right from Mackworth Road at Brittania Mill and left onto Queensway, crossing the Ashbourne Road and following the cycle path alongside the A38 to join R54 at Brackensdale Avenue.
From there follow R54 all the way to Egginton and A5132 to Don Amott's for lunch at 12.30pm -1pm.
I doubt that there will be time to view the Hilton Greenway as originally planned, as we should be on our way by 2pm, following R54 all the way back to the Flowerpot where we have a room booked for the meeting, and there is more food and drink there if required. Bikes to be parked in the yard.
Pretty safe but bring a lock to be sure.
Meeting scheduled to finish at about 4.30pm, and we will then escort our guests back to the Railway Station via Full Street and the Riverside Path.
If you have not already signified, please let me know if you are coming along so that we can ensure sufficient food and drink at Don Amotts. They can cope with up to 25 people and we have currently 15 bookings.  We have a room booked at the Flowerpot, with plenty of real ale available and a selection of food.
Derby Rangers can join the group anywhere along the route.
Ring my mobile 07754412670 if necessary.

From the intended route I think it makes sense for me to met you at Don Amotts as I will make my way from Swadlincote to Hilton via Burton I will try to be there for 12.30pm. See you there I will call if delayed or otherwise cannot make it on time

Phil Harris and Mavis are going directly to Don Amotts, and will probably be there before the main party arrives from Derby Station.
