An item in the Derby Evening Telegraph states (1) "Shardlow Lock on the Trent and Mersey Canal will be closed for six weeks while British Waterways repairs the lock walls"
(2) "Elsewhere along the Trent and Mersey Canal, work will also be carried out on Stenson Lock near Willington, which will be closed from November 7th to November 18th."
No mention was made regarding towpath usage, so be aware of possible problems.

There is an easy diversion route around Stenson Lock. The towpath is not (yet) a Sustrans route so I dont think we should sign the diversion.
I do not know the situation at Shardlow.
The news item did not mention a diversion, but under health and safety rules, any hazard would need to be drawn to the attention of potential users by suitable signage, put in place by the contractors.
