Glow Worm Walk 10.30pm Wednesday 28 June 2017

Photo from last year's walk.

We will leave the small car park at the top of the slope down to Mickleover Station (almost opposite the Great Northern pub) promptly at 10.30pm. We will walk fairly slowly so anyone arriving late will be able to catch up with us. It is unlikely we will see any glow worms until we are beyond the housing and the City boundary. The walk will be about 2 miles to the glow worm’s limit at Bannell’s Gate. Should be back at Mickleover Station by 12.30am.

I will be joining you at some point and plan to leave the Hawk and Buckle Pub, Etwall also at 10.30 pm on Wednesday 28th June.

A disappointing night. Only 1 glow worm seen. Was this because the County Council decided to cut the grass during the glow worm breeding season?

Over the last 10 years we have never seen fewer than 15 glow worms and often more than 30 in a single night.

And no glow worms seen a week later.
