Man Killed on Nutbrook Trail

A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he collided with a tree on the Nutbrook Trail (NCN Route 67) near to the Quarry Hill Industrial Estate at 1.30am (!) on Saturday.
Exactly what he was doing riding a motorcycle illegally in the dark on a bridleway at this hour is not clear. Three other men were questioned by Police, but the incident is not now considered to be suspicious.

Part of the trail was cordoned off by Police on Saturday.
Note Sustrans sign on post.

Several years ago I did an Open University course on Infectious Diseases and trawling through United Nations statistics came across the fact that in some USA states the principle cause of death for 15 - 30 year old males was riders on motorbikes colliding with barriers at night on abandoned railway track beds.

I hope the infection is not spreading.
