Derby was today honoured with a visit from the Secretary of State for Transport Patrick McLoughlin MP when he came to open the improved forecourt of Derby's Railway Station, which includes much better provision for the parking of bicycles. See earlier posting for details of the new facilities.
Mr. Mc Loughlin, assisted by Derby City Council Leader Paul Bayliss unveiled a plaque to commemerate the event. |
Here is the plaque, to be seen on the right hand side of the main entrance to the station. |

There are some 'flash mob' videos at railway stations on YouTube, including one at Zürich HB by railwaymen in high-vis orange.
Saturday 20th. Plenty of bikes in the new racks, but the first bus into town ignored the new bus stop - they have to cross the traffic twice. The 'No Entry' signs were being ignored by both cars and taxis.
Thanks Nick,
Three Arriva "suits" turned up this morning to put Not in Use notices on the bus stop by the Waterfall and explain to a taxi driver why he could not drive the wrong way along the City bound bus lane when buses were trying to get in.
