Derby Station Forecourt Makeover

If you have been hibernating for the past few months (and who could blame you?), or in a coma, you may not be aware of the changes to the frontage of our local railway station.
Not just a cosmetic change, but something really useful, like improved parking for bikes.

Just out of shot to the left is the new bicycle parking facility.  We could hardly call it a bike shed!

Here it is then.

And (below) we see the double decker parking for nigh on a hundred bikes.  All under cover.

We will never see this building empty again. After the official opening it will rapidly fill with bicycles of all types.

Our thanks to Derby Ranger Martin Aldred who has been involved with the planning of this facility from Day 1.

Fantastic facilities. I have been watching it develop during since Christmas. Unfortunately, we will away when the opening is on but hope you have lots of supporting cyclists.

Come along to the grand opening at 6pm on Thursday 18 April 2013. Dancers and local MP Patrick McLoughlin (Transport Secretary). Let's show Patrick there are plenty of cyclists in Derby waiting to use improved cycling facilities!
