Derby and Sandiacre Canal Society information.22nd Sept 2011

The following message received by email today:-

Come to the next meeting and help us celebrate. At last we have the Planning Application granted by all three Councils, so we are now into planning the next steps. We’ll be calling for help from anyone with relevant experience around planning, construction, digging out as well as the management of the track. Please let us know if you think this could be you.

We are also going to be joined by Joy Hales, editor of Derbyshire Life, who wants to meet us and take some photos of the Society activities for an article to go into the publication. Obviously a good turnout will show us in a good light and might even encourage other people to join us.

The subject of the meeting is The Cromford canal. Presented by Mike Kelly of the Friends of the Cromford, we will get an update on issues including the Butterley tunnel, plans and how they are managing the cash crisis. Mike is an excellent speaker and it will be good timing to inform our next push. As usual it will be at The Moon in Station Road Spondon starting at 8pm on Tuesday 27th September.
