Breadsall Ride and BBQ Summary

With so many of our Rangers away on holiday or having other pre-arranged committments, both the ride and the BBQ were at risk. Also a change of date to Saturday rather than Sunday, and the inevitable weather factor were additional risks.
However our skeleton staff rose to the challenge admirably and managed to cope.
The weather was good, but only about 25 members of the public turned up for the start in Derby Market Place. A disappointing turnout really. We must revue the problem at our next Rangers Meeting.
A few of the people were those who had been on our previous rides, others were new to the Breadsall Greenway.
Under Mavis Ratcliffe's expert guidance the BBQ went well and  we appear to have made a profit, but the true picture will emerge after next week's Etwall BBQ, as some unsold food and drink will be carried forward.
So grateful thanks to Mavis & John Ratcliffe, John & Jan Swan, Ian Dent, Steve Adams, Stefan Czuplak, and Val Sims, without whose efforts we would not have been able to run the event.

Next Sunday's ride from Mickleover to Etwall Leisure Centre for another BBQ and free swimming in the pool, should be on a different scale. We have run this event annually for five years now and it has become very popular with attendances approaching 100 on average. In 2009 we had 121 coming along in good weather.
No problems with the catering team, but plenty of Rangers required to marshall the ride please. Meet at Mickleover Station by 10.45am for the 11am start.

Note that our Sustrans Trailer was taken by Mavis from Breadsall direct to Etwall yesterday so is not in it's normal parking spot at Mickleover for the time being.
