On my recent trip to the Algave I visited the most South Westerly Point in Europe,Cap del Sao Vincente, Sagres. In the 15th century this wild and isolated promintory was thought to be 'The end of the world or 'Fim del Mundo' by Navigators as the seas were wild and land could not be seen to the west. The world was thought to be flat then of course! Besides a Lighthouse,Impressive Cliffs and violent seas I found this Monument to Cycling and the start of Eurovelo Route 1-The Atlantic Route. The start of a 5,000km route via Spain,France,Ireland,the UK,Danemark and Sweden. An idea for a future trip is already forming in my little mind ! Don't tell the wife though..Shh
