Dave Stevens Visit
A beautiful sunny day today for the visit of Dave Stevens to Derby, with a gentle ride from Mickleover to Hilton on NCN Route 54.
Apologies for the delay at lunch - my fault for not warning Sue that we were coming. I had not expected quite so many to turn out, but she managed OK.
After lunch we rode along the new Hilton Greenway and then back to Etwall.
Photo shows the group finishing off the last of Mavis's delicious shortcakes at Old Station Close.
Left to right - Peter Ford, Dave Stevens, Phil Harris (see note), Les Sims, Mavis Ratcliffe, Alan Locke and Nick Potter.
Not the best photo we have seen of Phil Harris- he is actually much taller and better looking than this. I think that he is doing his Quasimodo impression. Or is it Toulouse-Lautrec? Or "Penny for the Guy"?
Finally, Peter Ford drove Dave to Derby Station to catch his train on to Bristol for another meeting tomorrow.

Not quite correct, Les. I drove Dave to my house, primarily to get the car back home but also for him to see what we had done to his old house. We then both cycled to the station, arriving with about 10 minutes to go before his train was due to leave. I then cycled home via a Supermarket. (well it was a long time since lunchtime by then!)
Oh dear....
I know we are a bunch of old veteren cyclists, but I object to looking like it!
I think the shortbread must have been spiked.
The contents of the shortbread is a well guarded secret. I'm happy to see Phil stooping to my level.
Mavis
I used to be over 6 feet but then I started eating Mavis'cakes etc. Now look at me - you have been warned.
