A Happy Bunny

Having just had two new bearings placed in to my Birdy front wheel by Samways, I decided to entrust them with the renewal of the complete drive mechanism of the trusty Trex.

The drive chain had been replaced four times during my ownership and the bottom bracket clunked on every rev. so it was not surprising that a total job was called for. After the first job I was surprised at the labour cost – A reasonable £15. After my Trex refit I was still intrigued and inquired (pleasantly) as to how it was costed. Apparently the cost is per job, not in terms of hours, so the fitting cost of my new drive was - £15 for renewal of the bottom bracket, £8 for the new freewheel and £6.50 for two chain fittings. Not bad for a job which would have taken me most of the day in the cold. The parts of course, were extra.

The whole thing now runs like it should, and it is wonderful to just hear the swish of the tyres without the clunk.

We can call you 'Smoothrider' instead of TREXRIDER.
