The lady in the photograph is Audrey Swift, who was a signalwoman working in the Breadsall signal box from 1940 to 1956. She later worked in both the Mickleover and Etwall signal boxes, and eventually became a nurse.
She is now in her eighties and we have invited her to be our guest at the barbecue at Breasdsall Station on Sunday.
For the railway anoraks amongst us, the lever frame is a standard Saxby and Farmer 5 inch Rocker Frame with 27 levers (whatever that means).
