Ashbourne Shrove Tuesday "Football" match
Following a suggestion from Clyde Hinton I have added the first 2011 ride to the Ranger Diary. This will be to witness a portion of the annual football match between the Up'ards and Down'ards of Ashbourne. The "play" starts at 2pm each day so we should get to Ashbourne with time in hand for lunch (if there is a cafe not boarded up!). Those who do not fancy the ride could catch the Trent "One" bus. Parking cars in Ashbourne on the two days is not advised.

Great idea, just need to be aware that bikes may need to be 'parked' slightly out of the centre, but if the 'hug' goes near the bikes you may not see them in the same state you left them!
Just a word of warning as I have been to Shrovetide serveral times and seen lamp posts, guttering, fencing broken and a lorry swamped with people!

When I went, I only saw the ball once, but you can tell roughly where it is by movements of the crowd, who are all busy kicking each other's ankles.
