A New Cycle Path

Congratulations to Derby City Council who have recently completed the construction of a short but excellent new path at Darley Abbey. It runs alongside the River Derwent from the bridge at Darley Abbey Mill through to South Avenue, which links to Duffield Road and the Palm Court Roundabout.
Also they have at last re-surfaced and re-routed the part of NCN R54 which passes through Darley Fields, cutting out the rather unsatisfactory route which ran alongside the river bank.

Nice pic, nice bike, excellent path - what more could a man want?

This track also leads to Nutwood, a local nature reserve. Not possible to cycle in the reserve, but I did a walk assessment there pushing my bike. A maze of paths when inside.Wild garlic in the next few weeks down by the river. Also wild flowers in certain areas. Worth a visit.

Yes, I was admiring the bike too! The trail looks very nice - well done, Derby City! Nutwood, John - isn't that where Rupert lives?
