Derby Rangers Outing

The Newark Rangers are organising this event and we are intending to go along.
Proposed travel arangements as follows.
Catch 9.39 train to Nottingham. From there catch 10.29 train to Newark, arriving there at 10.55. Cycle about 12 miles to High Marnham.
Return trains from Newark at 15.58, 17,04 and 17.57
Return fare is £8.10.

Meet other cyclists from the region at the Picnic on the Bridge

Saturday 5 June 1200 to 2 00pm

Celebrate the opening of the new route 647 across the River Trent which links Lincoln with Clumber Park and North Notts. It uses an old railway viaduct which carries the route across the Trent floodplain.

Access to the route is from near High Marnham in Notts or from Harby, also in Notts but near Lincoln. ( There is also possibility of access up a steep and muddy bank from the road between North and South Clifton on the east bank of the Trent)

Bring a picnic There will be a Sustrans stall and we are hoping to be able to have hot water for drinks. If it chucks it down , there is a great pub at Harby that welcomes cyclists and also one at Marnham which I will check out for opening times nearer the date.

Nearest stations are Lincoln, Retford, Worksop or Newark - all about 10 to 12 miles except Retford which is nearer.

We look forward to meeting you there.

When I selected Newark as the starting point for our ride I had anticipated accessing the new bridge from the Harby side, not High Marnham. Harby is on NCN64 and is safely reachable from Newark.
