Blind Tandem Club – Captains needed
Hello,
I’m Amanda Salt, I work for the CTC Cycle Champions Project which aims to make cycling accessible to all.
I am currently working with Derbyshire Association for the Blind (DAB), to help them develop a Tandem Club for their members. We have held a few taster rides and now have a small number of tandems. The tasters were very successful and DAB members are looking forward to being able to take part in tandems rides on a regular basis.
They will be starting a series of regular tandem rides from this April. We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in being a Captain of a tandem (the one on the front). DAB already has a couple of tandems that need Captains, but we’re also looking for volunteers who have their own tandems which they wouldn’t mind riding with a blind person. So if you have a tandem in your garage but need someone to ride it with, this could be just the opportunity you’ve been looking for!
Rides will take place on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday mornings once a month.
Full training will be provided.
If you are interested in getting involved in this rewarding volunteering opportunity and are a confident cyclist, please get in contact with me, Amanda Salt 07786 981828 / 01332 641749 amanda.salt@ctc.org.uk
