NCN Route 6, east of Derby

Following Graham's comment included in an earlier post I can confirm that the Riverside Path in the Alvaston area has re-opened (although it is currently impassable due to flooding under Raynesway). Some parts of the affected path have been resurfaced but are noted to be cutting up badly in the wet conditions. Other areas - e.g. near to the Flood Control Gates - have not been restored at all as yet. The photo below shows the current state of this section.

The diversion signs are still in situ at the eastern end and the diversionary path to the cycleway alongside the A6 will make a good permanent link to/from R6 into Alvaston. The current roadworks have reduced the number of potential safe crossings of the A6 and with the flooding under Raynesway one is faced with a dive across each of the two single carriageways or a long diversion.

I noticed on my trip home from work that they've finished resurfacing it now (it's a bit squidgy and not the flatest bit of the cycle route mind)
