Three Events Next Week

Tuesday 4th August
A walk, led by local historians and wildlife experts, Terry Hall and Roger Wood, around the village of Stanley and the surrounding countryside, where the next section of the Great Northern Greenway will be built.
Meet in the village at 10.30am at Terry’s house which is no.69 Station Road.
If going by car, arrangements have been made for parking at the Village Hall. Access via Coronation Road.
If going by bus, alight at the village shop.
If cycling from Derby, we meet at Exeter Bridge at 9.30am and will cycle to Stanley via the Greenway. There is secure cycle parking at Terry’s house.
We are proposing to take lunch at a local pub.
Wednesday 5th August
Rolls-Royce Harriers are running their annual 10k race at Mickleover and the latter part of the course is along R54 from Heage Lane to the finish line at Mickleover Station.
We have previously helped to marshal this event and will do so again this year. Also we unlock and open the large gates to allow the runners free passage. Volunteers please be at Mickleover Station for 7pm at latest.
Saturday 8th August
A Signing Ride on R54 from Mickleover to the Dove Bridge at the County Boundary on A50 trunk road near to Uttoxeter.
Meet at Mickleover Station at 10am or any point on the route.
We shall take lunch (and perhaps a pint) on the way at the Boar’s Head in Sudbury.
