New Seat at Breadsall Station

Our second seat, funded by Action Earth was installed on R672 at Breadsall Station today. Pictures show the finished job and Keith and Ian hard at work digging the earth away to get the seat at the correct height.
Whilst there we discovered why recent progress on the route has been slow. Recent heavy rain caused a land slip near to the A608 bridge and this has to be made safe before the Greenway can be opened to the public.

Excellent seat - can't wait to bring some sandwiches and try it out!

and Mavis, please reassure us that it does not really tilt forward as seems to be the case in the photo - I know Les has a spirit level but they may have been confused due to the altitude.

It does not tilt forward (certified by Sustrans Official Spirit Level) although it does appear to in the photograph. Perhaps the photographer (me) was not standing upright, or maybe it's an optical illusion due to the sloping bank behind the seat.
Be that as it may, we are offering to meet Mavis at the seat providing that she brings one of her world-renowned cakes.

A new seat

Some wood, some nails, some grafting too.
Make a seat for me and you.
A coat of paint, some smoothing down.
Good as any seen in town.
Dig a hole. Level it up
Make sure it’s straight.
Could win a cup.
Not padded soft,
But good and strong.
To stretch the weary legs along.
Rest awhile. Comfort ensured
Till once more to the trail allured.
