Route 672 Breadsall Greenway
Work by contractors has slowed up and we still have no date for completion of this new off road route. Although most of the surfacing has been done, there is still much work to be done on fencing, gates and signing.
However, after a quite period of late whilst some of us have been on holiday, things start to hot up from here on with lots of events coming up.
These are as follows:-
Thursday 28th May
Wheels in Motion (Heart and Soul Cycling Event) at Langley Mill Junior School which is on Bailey Brook Road, Langley Mill.
We are contracted to do the catering at this event, expecting to make a profit out of this for our (Sustrans) funds. Also Rangers will be marshalling the public rides.
The event starts at 10am. Come along if you can to help with the catering and cycling events.
Saturday/Sunday 30th/31st May
Bike Radar Live Event at Donington Park.
See web site http://live.bikeradar.com/
The Derby Sustrans Ranger Group is organising and leading the public off-site rides at this event and also putting on a Sustrans stand.
We have a team of 12 Rangers allocated but any extra help appreciated.
Contact Les Sims.
June 5th/6th/7th
Sustrans Festivol at Penrith
Several of our local Rangers are going along to this event.
Wednesday June 10th
We are installing a second seat on the Breadsall Greenway. A grant of £50 is payable for this from Action Earth who are funded by the Environmental Agency. The agreement is that we do this work on a specific day and this is it. Volunteers required to dig holes for the legs and to set the seat in position. Probable position for this seat is at Breadsall Station where there is plenty of room and good access. All tools supplied but you might like to bring working gloves as our supply of these is running low.
Sunday 14th June
Our annual Biking Barbecue Ride goes from Mickleover Station at 12.30pm. Free swimming at Etwall Leisure Centre for all participants.
Again we hope to make a good profit on the BBQ.
Marshals required for the ride. Contact Les Sims.
Saturday 27th June
Farm Tour Ride
This public ride goes from Mickleover Station to Smerrils Farm at Radbourne where there will be tours of the farm and we will be putting on a barbecue. Ride marshals required.
Further details to follow.
Saturday 11th July
Big Biking Weekend at Markeaton Park organised by Derby City Council.
We will be having a Sustrans Stand and alongside our mini bike challenge which was very popular at last year’s event. Rangers required to run both.
Further details to follow.
Sunday 12th July
The Five Parks Ride organised by DCC goes from Markeaton Park and passes through four more of Derby’s public parks.

Sometime soon we will be having a Rangers Meeting.
