As part of the on going work on the revised Alvaston Bypass, it will be necessary to lay a pipe near the Green Lane Footbridge. Unfortunately, the cycle track and footbridge steps on
the north side of the A6 will have to be closed to allow contractors to carry out the work safely.
A statutory closure notice has been issued and the pathways will be closed daily between the hours of 9:30am to 5:00pm for a week commencing Monday 18 May.
There will be a diversion route to retain access to the track alongside the River Derwent.
This will require using the steps to access the bridge.
During the closure hours assistance shall be available by calling tel. no. 01332 579080. Notice signs have been placed at the bridge.
As it is out of commuting hours I do not think the distubance will be great but I wonder what would happen if you rang that number? Would they carry my bike up the steps?
